Prof. Daniele Boffi attended the 7th Chilean Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Partial Differential Equations, a.k.a. WONAPDE, hosted at Universidad de Concepcion, Chile, on January 15-19.
Fabio Credali obtained the Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences at KAUST in cotutelle with the Joint Ph.D. program in Computational Mathematics at Universita` di Pavia (Italy) and Universita` della Svizzera Italiana (Switzerland) under the supervision of Daniele Boffi and Silvia Bertoluzza.
Gianmarco Manzini from Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA) and Francesca Gardini from University of Pavia (Italy) visited NumPDE during November 2023 for research collaborations.
Their research if focused on classical and mixed finite element methods, virtual element methods, mimetic finite difference schemes and tensor train models.
One of the last "KAUST Opportunity Found Program" grants has been assigned to NumPDE.
The research will be focused on "Model reduction methods for modal analysis in computational mechanics" and the NumPDE team, lead by Prof. Daniele Boffi, will collaborate with Prof. Fleurianne Bertrand (Chemnitz, Germany) and Prof. Luca Heltai (SISSA, Italy).
Daniele Boffi was invited plenary speaker at the STEM Education Summit held in Riyadh on September 29-30, 2023. The summit aimed to promote the advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education, fostering innovation and preparing Saudi youth for future challenges.
NumPDE contributed to the European Conference on Numerical Mathematics and Advanced Applications held at Tecnico Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal.
Daniele Boffi and Linda Alzaben from NumPDE group attended the 29th Biennial Numerical Analysis Conference held at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, from 27th to 30th June 2023.
Clarissa Astuto attended the conference "Multiscale analysis and methods for PDE's: fluids and active matter dynamics", held in Singapore from 6th to 10th February 2023. As invited speaker, she presented the talk "Finite-difference scheme for a tensor PDE model of biological network formation and applications".
NumPDE contributed to the 7th ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference held in Porto, Portugal, from 19th to 21st June 2023.
Prof. Luca F. Pavarino from University of Pavia (Italy) visited our group from March 27th to April 2nd, 2023.
Prof. Pavarino is an expert in Domain Decomposition Methods and parallel solvers for PDEs. Part of his research is also focused on biological applications, such as Computational Cardiology and Electrophysiology.
NumPDE is hosting the Applied Mathematics School for undergraduate and graduate students.
