Program


The CEMSE Saudi Summer Internship (SSI) is a 6-12 week research program designed to introduce Saudi University students to topics of research in our division of Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE). Participating students work on individual research projects mentored by CEMSE faculty with the opportunity to showcase their work in an e-poster competition at the end of the internship. 

What's included?

Throughout the program, the student will: 

  • Get an introduction to graduate research.
  • Experience a taste of university life at KAUST.
  • Take advantage of an exciting opportunity to challenge themselves intellectually.
  • Gain access to the unique research facilities available at KAUST.
  • Attend academic sessions plus some social activities organized by the CEMSE division in collaboration with other departments.

Week 1

June 4 - 9

(For KFUPM students)

Arrival

  • Meet the KAUST hosting faculty and the academic mentor
  • Get introduced to the research group
  • The faculty evaluates the student and assign any related learning required
  • Attend the weekly faculty group meetings

June 11 - 16

June 11: Arrival

June 12:

  • 09:00 – 13:00 | Orientation and lunch
  • 13:00 – 16:00 | Meet the faculty/mentor and get briefed on the research project
  • 16:30 – 17:00 | Campus Tour

June 14: 08:00 – 12:00 | Lab Safety Training

June 15: 10:30 – 13:30 | SGRD Activity: Application Process Workshop + Lunch

Work on the research project and any lab work required

  • 11:00 – 12:00 | KAUST Student Panel Discussion
  • 19:00 – 20:30 | Social activity + Dinner with KAUST students
