KAUST is a beautifully laid out community covered with trees, gardens, walking paths, plazas, parks, and seaside views. The community is an extremely safe and well-maintained environment. It is easy to get around on foot or by bicycle or using the free community buses. Any commute takes ten minutes or less by car within KAUST.
Residential life is enhanced by an array of community events, clubs, classes, programs, educational and recreational facilities. You can learn a foreign language or play a musical instrument, improve your sports performance with coaches and trainers, listen to a concert or watch a theatrical performance, cheer for a sports team, kayak on the Red Sea, and much more.

KAUST faculty and graduate students are creating a smarter future through an in-depth curriculum in fields including artificial intelligence and machine learning; computational bioscience; extreme computing and visual computing; computer science and big data; mathematical analysis, modeling, and simulations; electronic and optics/photonics devices; MEMS systems; sensors, measurement and detection devices; COMS integrated circuits; communication networks; and nano-materials. Students experience unique learning opportunities, working with some of the world's top scientists with access to cutting-edge core laboratories and computing facilities.
The University's Shaheen supercomputer (Cray XC40) is currently ranked among the top 30 supercomputers in the world. The Cornea six-wall immersive CAVE is a powerful tool for 360-degree visual computing, while the nanofabrication Core Lab allows for in-house prototyping of novel devices for microsystems.
Our degree-granting programs are supported by KAUST fellowships which provide all students with housing, medical benefits, a competitive monthly allowance, relocation support, and more.

CEMSE provides Masters Degrees (MS), Doctoral Degrees (Ph.D.), and a combined track degree of MS/Ph.D. Our programs are:
