A solar tracking system is considered as one the effective technologies to enhance the efficiency of solar cells by tracking and following the sun's position. Nevertheless, conventional solar trackers are mechanical systems with several disadvantages including being energy intensive, expensive and requiring maintenance periodically. This project aims to achieve solar trackers based on smart materials such as shape memory alloys which change shape upon exposure to the external environment. 3D printing technology will be used to develop the sun trackers.
