Multiphysics Simulation of Semiconductor-based Terahertz Devices

Semiconductor-based terahertz (THz) devices such as photoconductive antennas (PCAs) and photomixers (PMs) are widely studied as promising candidates of THz source generation and signal detection. Recent experimental research has shown that using nanostructures in the design of these devices dramatically enhances their optical-to-THz conversion efficiency, possibly allowing their use in widespread industrial applications. However, the nanostructures also increase the complexity of design and fabrication.

Meet KAUST Prospective Student: Zere Iman

Zere Iman is a 22-year-old graduate who will join KAUST from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. Iman will join us in the fall of 2020 as an M.S./Ph.D. candidate in the KAUST Integrated Microwaves Packaging Antennas and Circuits Technology Research Group, under the supervision of Professor Atif Shamim.

Yue Wang

Yue Wang is a M.S./Ph.D. student at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). She obtained bachelor degree of Electronic Science and Technology from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2020. She took part in the Visiting Student Research Program (VSRP) at KAUST during the summer of 2019.

Sadeed Bin Sayed is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) under the supervision of Professor Hakan Bagci. He received his B.Tech. degree in electronics and communication engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Calicut, India, in 2004, and the M.Tech. degree in communications engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India, in 2007. Education Nouf Alamri is currently pursuing a B.S. in electrical engineering at Boston University and is graduating in May 2020. Research Interests Nouf is interested in applied electromagnetics in general and signal processing. She is also exploring her interest in energy and systems related research.

Noha Al-Harthi received her PhD in Computer Science and was a member of KAUST's Extreme Computing Research Center and CEML.
