CBRC student’s startup secures second place at LEAP22

Martin Ibarra along with co-founders Rodrigo Jimenez Sandoval and Noor Zaouri of Polymeron were awarded second place in the Shooting Star Award category at the LEAP22.

Martin Ibarra a Phd student and founder of Polymeron was awarded second place in the Shooting Star category at the LEAP22. LEAP aims to connect pioneers and disruptors with business and government leaders, investors and more to solve mankind’s most pressing challenges through emerging technologies.

Martin Ibarra along with co-founders Rodrigo Jimenez Sandoval and Noor Zaouri formed the startup Polymeron. Martin Ibarra is a PhD student in Bioscience at the Computational Bioscience Research Center (CBRC) and co-founder’s Rodrigo Jimenez Sandoval is a PhD student in environmental sciences at the Water Desalination and Reuse Center (WDRC), while Noor Zaouri is a WDRC Alumni and a PhD student in environmental sciences.

Polymeron develops and produces environmentally friendly polymeric materials by up-cycling the organic waste of the date industry. Their first proprietary plastic formulation is biodegradable and unlike oxo-plastics, it doesn’t generate micro plastics.

Polymeron’s recognition at Taqadam and LEAP22 was featured in an article in Les Echos (French newspaper).
