We are thrilled to announce that Associate Professor David Gomez-Cabrero will be the newest addition to our faculty at CBRC.

David Gomez-Cabrero is an Associate Professor in BESE since early 2021. He has a Ph.D. in Mathematics/Operations Research obtained in 2009, an MSc in Statistics (2003), and an MSc in Operations Research (2004). After completing his Ph.D. in Operations Research, Gomez-Cabrero joined Karolinska Institute as a postdoctoral researcher. Within a year, he became a project leader and eventually an Assistant Professor in 2014. During this time, he played a crucial role as a work-package leader in various European FP7/H2020 projects and also participated in other initiatives such as Incure and Casym.

Prof. David Gomez-Cabrero specializes in the intersection of translational bioinformatics and systems biology. He has made significant progress by developing multi-omic integration tools implemented in the Bioconductor STATegRa package. Currently, his primary research focuses on two key areas: the development of single-cell and spatial multi-omic analysis tools and the mechanistic understanding of the bone marrow niche in both health and disease.

Prof. David brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and passion in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology, and we are truly excited to have him onboard.
