Yi Mei Ng wins Best Keynote Talk at Young Algaeneers Symposium 2018

Yi Mei Ng, a Ph.D. student under the joint supervision of Dr. John Archer and Prof. Takashi Gojobori, won Best Keynote Talk at the 2018 Young Algaeneers Symposium held in Oban, Scotland on May 16-18, 2018. Besides a certificate of recognition, she will also receive a prize of £200.

In her presentation, entitled "Characterization of Red Sea Cyanobacterium for Cell Factory Application in Saudi Arabia", Yi Mei talked about using photosynthetic cells as platform for bio-manufacturing and how it promises to deliver a sustainable, carbon neutral production system for biomass-derived chemicals, fuels and foods.

The Young Algaeneers Symposium is a symposium for Master's and Ph.D. students, as well as early-stage postdoctoral fellows working on microalgae (cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae) as well as seaweeds.
