Mid-September 2023, Professor Xin Gao, played a vital role as a KAUST representative in advancing collaboration efforts in research, education, talent exchange, training, innovation, and entrepreneurship. KAUST, in a strategic move, has strengthened its ties with Shenzhen, China's third most economically and technologically developed city. During a visit to the KAUST campus on September 14, the Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Qin Weizhong, accompanied by 50 delegates from Tsinghua University, formalized multiple Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with KAUST. These MOUs underscore shared interests in research, education, talent exchange, training, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

These collaborative agreements are geared towards nurturing the next generation of scientific research and innovation leaders, thereby elevating the Kingdom's higher education system to unprecedented levels of excellence. This initiative aligns with KAUST's recently announced strategy, unveiled last month, which prioritizes establishing connections with top-tier academic institutions and innovation hubs worldwide. These alliances aim to not only deepen scientific relationships but also expedite the adoption of cutting-edge technology and facilitate research commercialization, thus boosting the Kingdom's economic competitiveness.
