Sara Althubaiti, a student under the supervision of Assistant Professor Robert Hoehndorf, defended her Master's thesis on November 5, 2018.
For her research, "Variant Prioritization in Cancer: Understanding and Prediction of Cancer Driver Genes and Mutations", Sara developed a novel method for identifying cancer driver genes. Her approach utilizes multiple complementary types of information, specifically cellular phenotypes, cellular locations, function, and whole body physiological phenotypes as features.
Her defense committee members, Professor Stefan Arold, Assistant Professor Robert Hoehndorf and Professor Mikhail Moshkov, were very impressed with her work and recognized all the effort she made in doing her research.
